In a couple of weeks I will have been a grandmother for a year. Over the past few months I have reflected on all of the really great things about being a grandmother. Here they are:
5. Finding energy I forgot I had when I play with my grandchild. Now if I could just get my doctor to count it towards the aerobic activity she says I need to get daily.
4. Enjoying the mess my house becomes when my grandchild comes to visit. Usually I tend to be a neat freak but the trail of debris my grandchild leaves behind is evidence of an enjoyable time of visiting.
3. Driving around town with a car seat attached to the back seat. We are ready to saddle up and go anywhere, anytime. In addition, I have visual proof of my new status. Since I look too old to be a new mother, everybody knows I must be the grandmother.
2. Filling my walls with all of the cute photos. The furniture in the living room had to be rearranged to accomodate a wall of new pictures. Also, my hobby of scrapbooking has gone to a whole new level.
And the number one perk to being a grandmother.....
1. Seeing my grandchild's sweet smile when she recognizes me.
Being a grandmother is wonderful. Everyone should experience it!
